Brief Introduction of Ford carrier:
The Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier is the latest model of nuclear powered aircraft carriers equipped by the US Navy, and entered service with the US Navy on July 22, 2017. This class of aircraft carrier was planned to manufacture 10 to replace the current Nimitz class aircraft carrier gradually.
The Ford aircraft carrier has a total length of 337 meters, a displacement over 100000 tons and a speed of 30 knots. Compared with Nimitz carrier, the Ford carrier is equipped with many more new high-tech devices. It was first installed with the electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) which catapults aircraft more efficiently, accelerates aircraft more smoothly and make the aircraft more endurable. The dual-band radar equipped is capable of making remote surveillance, high-altitude search, precise tracking, threat assessment and can also perform aircraft approach control. The new A1B reactor produces up to 200 MW electricity which is three times that of Nimitz class, and has a lifespan of 50 years. Compared to the Nimitz class, the Ford carrier's main aircraft have been fully replaced with the stealth fighters F-35 Lightning II. Meanwhile, Ford is also equipped with various multi-purpose drones to meet different mission demands.
