The RAM was a Canadian development of a cruiser tank with a 40mm or 57mm gun based on the U.S. American M3 chassis. However, since the Canadian units were equipped with M4 Shermans in World War II, the RAM with turret was not used by the fighting troops, but only for training purposes in Great Britain. However, there were some special variants without a turret, which were used as armored personnel carriers, observation tanks, artillery and ammunition tractors in the Northwest European theater of war. A variant equipped with WASP II flamethrowers saw service in the Netherlands in 1945.
